HILTON IRVINE AWARDED TOP HONOR BY AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF INTERIOR DESIGNERS, TEXAS Hospitality with Style: Property’s Renovations Redefining How Guests Utilize Public Areas
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – September 29, 2008 – The Hilton Irvine/Orange County Airport is wowing business and leisure travelers alike with a redesign that lures guests into its public spaces for some relaxation and socializing. The design of its recently renovated public space was recently recognized with a top hospitality design award from the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Texas Chapter. As part of its $18.5 million dollar renovation project that was completed in 2007, the Hilton Irvine/Orange County Airport commissioned Dallas architecture and interior design firm Leo A. Daly to plan and execute the refurbishment of its lobby, bar, dining areas and meeting rooms. These designs were awarded first place in the hospitality service category of the ASID’s 2008 Legacy of Design Awards, which was presented during the Legacy of Design Awards Celebration on Friday, August 15 in Dallas.
“It’s a tremendous honor for one of our properties to be acknowledged by ASID,” said Jeff Diskin, senior vice president – brand management, Hilton Hotels & Resorts. “This recognition reinforces Hilton’s position as a dynamic leader in the hospitality industry, staying at the forefront of design innovation as an integral part of the ongoing re-invigoration of our more than 500 hotels around the world.”
With the goal of creating a vibrant series of public spaces, the refurbishment transformed the lobby and bar into one open, inviting area that reflects the crisp, casual feel of a beachside business resort. The design has created a flexible environment with a diverse collection of seating that guests can enjoy throughout the day. During breakfast time the back bar becomes a juice and water bar; at mid-day, guests are encouraged to work on their laptops or conduct casual business meetings in the lobby’s plush seating areas; and in the evening the area is set up to act as an active bar, lounge and dining area. As part of the renovations, the hotel features an updated lobby, front desk, Hilton Fitness by Precor fitness center, restaurant, bar and ballroom. It also added 5,000 ft_ of meeting space, including Hilton’s premier small meeting service for groups of 50 or less, Hilton Meetings, available in two of its rooms.
"The feedback we have received from our guests has been fantastic" added Dori Familiant, general manager of the Hilton Irvine/Orange County Airport Hotel. "They enjoy the open space, versatility and ambiance of our business resort."
The Legacy of Design Awards is a chapter-wide competition that recognizes the finest in interior design achievements within the ASID Texas Chapter. The chapter consists of nine design communities from around Texas.
