Web Marketing Association Recognizes Bureau with 2008 “Travel Standard of Excellence Award”
ANAHEIM, CA. (November 18, 2008) - The Web Marketing Association recently announced this year’s award winners of the WebAward Competition. In its 12th year, the WebAwards is the premier annual Web site award competition that names the best Web sites in 96 industries, while setting the standard of excellence for all Web site development.
The Anaheim Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau’s Web site received high scores in design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity and copywriting to garner the Travel Standard of Excellence Award.
“We’ve recently enhanced our Web site to more efficiently serve the needs our varied audiences, from meeting planners to vacation planners. We believe that the site is now more intuitive and has streamlined interactive shopping and search tools to help pinpoint exactly what they are looking for in our destination,” noted, John Fuhr, AOCVCB vice president of marketing.
The Bureau’s interactive Web site covers a multitude of destination information from transportation, attractions, beaches, dining and hotels. The official destination marketing organization of Orange County, the AOCVCB noted that in 2007 more than 44 million people visited Anaheim and Orange County for business or pleasure trips. The majority of these visitors used the Internet to research and book their trip. According to the Consumer Travel Trends recently published by PhoCusWright Inc. in 2007, approximately 70% of online travelers bought travel online, compared to 63% in 2006.
