Meetings and Conventions Fill Anaheim Area Hotels in 2005 ANAHEIM, Calif. (February 2, 2006) – This past year represented a record year for a large number of local hotels, restaurants and attractions, as Disneyland celebrated its 50th Anniversary and thousands of meeting delegates filled the Anaheim Convention Center and area hotels. In 2005, the average occupancy rate for Anaheim area hotels was 74.3 percent, which placed the city fourth in the nation’s top 25 markets, according to the 2005 STR Lodging Review.Occupancy Reaches an All-time High “Meetings are a vital part of Anaheim and Orange County’s economic fabric,” stated Charles Ahlers, president of the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau. “Today, our area is one of the leading convention and meeting sites in the nation. Our Bureau continues to explore new sales and marketing tactics to stay a step ahead of our competition and ensure Anaheim’s position in this marketplace.” The Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau reports that during 2005, 625 groups met in the Anaheim area with a collective attendance of 1,113,224, and meeting delegates spent a total of $880,782,829.
