What's New 2007-2008

ANAHEIM, Calif. (August 2, 2007) – Anaheim and Orange County’s summer openings continue to build excitement as the area poises for a second half of 2007 filled with highly anticipated developments. The following is a summary of what’s new and currently on the horizon through 2008.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Anaheim GardenWalk, a unique outdoor shopping and dining experience among beautifully manicured garden walkways, is slated to open its first phase in November 2007. This phase will include restaurants located along Katella Avenue, such as Bubba Gump, California Pizza Kitchen, Cheesecake Factory, McCormick & Schmick Grill, P.F. Chang's and Roy's of Hawaii. The remaining space will open in May 2008, featuring popular retailers, more restaurants and a few OC originals: Aveda, Banana Republic, Bar Louie, Brian Wilson's Surfin' Beach Party, Defy Board Shop, Harley Davidson, Heat Ultra Lounge, OC Gift, White House/Black Market and XP Apparel.   • The City of Anaheim celebrates its 150th Anniversary on October 5, 2007. The anniversary festivities, themed 'Anaheim 150: Always Fresh & Never Grows Old', kicked off in October 2006 with monthly events scheduled throughout the year, including a new Anaheim/OC Walk of Stars and an award-winning float in the annual Rose Parade.   • Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage opened at Disneyland® Park on June 11, 2007. Inspired by the Disney presentation of the Pixar Animation Studios film, Finding Nemo, the all-new underwater adventure features the eight submarines of the nostalgic Submarine Voyage attraction.   • Knott’s Berry Farm put a new twist on traditional roller coasters in June 2007 with the debut of Sierra Sidewinder. The coaster cars rotate on their axis making riders “human twisters” through a series of nose-dives, banks, dips and turns at speeds of 37 miles per hour along the 1,411-foot track.   • The Muzeo is scheduled to open Fall 2007 in Downtown Anaheim. The cultural center includes an exhibit hall, museum space and a history center on the ground floor of one of the six mixed-use developments of the CIM Group’s downtown revitalization project. Imperial Rome, which features 450 artifacts on loan from more than 15 Italian museums, will be the first exhibition shown at the new facility in October 2007.   • May - October 2008, the Anaheim Marriott’s $20 million renovation will include upgrades to the Concierge Lounge, guest corridors, and all guest rooms and suites, to feature the Marriott's new Revive® bedding. Contact: Steve Pufpaf, 714.750.8000, steve.pufpaf@marriott.com.

 

  • Following a major renovation, including guest rooms, conference suites and public areas, in 2006 and a fitness center expansion and pool area upgrade in early 2007, the Embassy Suites Santa Ana is renovating its 8,000 square feet of ballroom space to be complete by the end of 2007.   • The Hilton Anaheim began a multi-million dollar renovation in July 2007. Orange County's largest hotel is upgrading its public space, ballrooms and all 1,572 guest rooms, featuring The Bed by Hilton, through December 2008. Contact: Brad Logsdon, 714.740.4234, brad_logsdon@hilton.com.

 

  • Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach debuted Shades, its new restaurant featuring a market fresh seasonal menu, handpicked boutique wines, specialty cocktails and a warm, relaxing environment, on June 28, 2007.   • Hotel Ménage celebrated its grand opening on June 1, 2007. The new, chic Anaheim hotel features comfortable loft-style rooms, the Red Room – a business center with a lush twist, the award-winning k’ya restaurant, a sophisticated candle-lit lobby bar and lounge, and the Mist pool bar - one of OC’s newest hotspots. The hotel’s 4,700 square feet of flexible indoor meeting and event space includes seven uniquely themed breakout rooms for small to medium groups, and its outdoor pool deck has more than an acre of space for special events or receptions.   • The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa has two exciting additions slated for completion in 2008. Pacific Waters Spa is undergoing an interior renovation with the addition of an outdoor co-ed relaxation area with jacuzzi and fireplace, set to open in spring.   • The recently expanded Hyatt Regency Orange County is set to receive an additional $11 million in enhancements to the property through 2008. The hotel is revitalizing the first floor public space and updating the lighting elements for the Royal Ballroom and Grand Ballroom Foyer in 2007 (summer to year-end).
