Anaheim's 150th Anniversary Blooms in '07
The City of Anaheim kicked off 2007 with an award-winning float in the Tournament of Roses Parade® in Pasadena. The 55-foot long and 45-foot wide float was the only presentation by an Orange County city in the '07 parade.
Designed by Michelle Lofthouse and decorated by the Phoenix Decorating Company with the help of local volunteers,
Anaheim’s float featured the City’s sesquicentennial celebration motto, "Always Fresh & Never Grows Old," as its theme.
Anaheim’s own American Idol finalist,
Lisa Tucker, performed an original rendition of Frank Sinatra’s "Young at Heart" on the float while 28 dancers performed alongside.
The float highlighted contemporary landmarks, such as the Santa Ana River, Disneyland®'s monorail and the "Big A" from Angel Stadium of Anaheim, and the City’s historical agricultural roots including a wide array of colorful flowers, oranges, grapes and other fruits.
