Extreme Makeover Gives Classic Venue Trendy New Look

The Anaheim Convention Center’s landmark 8,700-seat Arena is in the midst of an impressive upgrade. This classic 39-year-old, Googie architecture structure is going through a modernization process blending the Arena with the existing redesigned Anaheim Convention Center.

“We are creating a seamless environment where indoor and outdoor meetings and special events can thrive. We are fortunate to have exceptional year-round climate in Anaheim, and this together with our new palm tree-lined courtyard and signature fountain will enhance our entire meeting and event atmosphere,” noted Greg Smith, executive director, Anaheim Convention Center.

Additionally, the Arena recently engaged in a five-year contract with AEG Facilities Inc. to bring in a variety of concerts and public events. It is now the home court of the NBA Development League’s new team, the Anaheim Arsenal. Their inaugural season at the Arena begins November 24, 2006.

The Anaheim Convention Center is the largest convention center on the West Coast and features 1.6 million square feet of meeting, exhibit and event space. It hosts in excess of two million people annually who meet here for trade shows, meetings and public events. The Center is consistently ranked as one of the top meeting venues in the U.S. in terms of its size, attendance and overall building services and amenities.
